OYUS - Naiset (5 - 7)

We expected this to be a very hard game, not just because we were travelling to Oulu to play, but also because OYUS had been playing very good & consistent floorball. Having come up from 2nd division at the start of the season they were probably not expected to have done so well, but they have proved themselves to be a very strong team. 

We travelled to Oulu with only a small team which was a disadvantage for us, but this was a game that I think all the players were looking forward to, knowing that it would be a good competition, & so everyone was determined to play well.

The first period was very tight with just the one goal, but we finished this period ahead & we felt that our game was going to plan. The floor surface was very slippery which meant that we had to adapt our game a little, but the players did this very well & I think the slippery floor actually added to the game with both teams being forced to play a very attacking style of floorball. The game was fast-paced, with the ball moving quickly from end to end, creating an exciting game.

The second period has not been our greatest strength this season, & often we have found it difficult to get back to our game after the first period break. However, in this game, we started the second period in the best possible way with two very quick goals. I really couldn't have imagined a better start for us, & in this period I felt that the players showed their determination to win this game. Whenever OYUS scored to close the gap we were always able to score again quickly & maintain our lead. 

Jenni Rautanen again had a great game scoring several excellent goals from strong individual shooting, & our player of the match, Annina Mero, showed strength & speed in defence & was always linking with the forwards to help create attacking situations. But this was definitely a TEAM win. This was our best game of the season. We were playing against a very strong opposition, but we played our game, we played to our strengths, we scored good goals & always maintained our lead.
