18.11.2006 13.30 We were really happy with the result of this game. In the first round of Suomen Cup we had lost to FLOB so were determined to show how much stronger our team had become since the beginning of the season. It is often difficult to play a lower-placed team, & it can often be that once you get a few goals in front that the players "switch off". However, we scored goals in every period & played strongly for the whole match. A strong first period saw us go to the first break with a 4-0 lead which allowed us to make some changes to our lines for the second & third periods & play with some new combinations. To be able to give these "new lines" some actual game practice, rather than just training practice was a great opportunity for us, and it also allowed us to play with some new tactics.To finish the game with 10 goals was very pleasing. FLOB had scored 7 goals in their last game & I'm sure were hoping to be able to continue that in this game, but strong defence by our players & good possession of the ball meant that we were able to prevent them from scoring until right near the end of the match. Minna Rautio was playing her first game of the season in goals & did a great job to allow FLOB to score just one goal. In this game several of our younger players also showed their great potential. Essi Leppinen (1+0), Riitta Lankinen (1+3) & Ulla Karjala (3+1) all played very strongly & have been very consistent all season. I think this is the key word for our team at the moment - consistency. One of the aims at the start of the season was to maintain a certain standard of play from week to week, regardless of who we are playing against.
