Naiset - OYUS (4 - 2)

On Sunday, the team faced a harder challenge against OYUS who had beaten FLOB 9-0 the previous day. We were without Jonna Kettunen, who had suffered an ankle injury in the last period against OLS, but her absence was filled by the inclusion of defender Annamari Raassina, who had been unavailable for the game on Saturday.
As expected, this was a very close game & our win was never really assured until the sound of the siren at the end of the 3rd period. OYUS were first to score & we were not able to put the ball in the OYUS net until the second period when Raassina scored from a free-hit. The third period started with us behind 1-2, but two quick goals early in the period gave us the confidence that we needed to defend strongly & also to score a fourth goal to guarantee the win.
In this game, it was the defenders who managed to score the majority of the goals, with Raassina finishing with 2+1, & deserving her award as player of the match. Goalkeeper, Mari Kinnunen, made some important saves at crucial times in the game & the experience of many of the players really showed in the last 5minutes of the game as we worked hard to control possession of the ball & maintain our two goal lead.
To begin the season with two wins is good & to also have scored 12 goals is also very positive. However, our good start will be tested next weekend when we travel to Kajaani & Joensuu for games against PaPas & TuuU.
